Cave at Ha Long Bay
One of the sights at Ha Long Bay is the cave we were taken to see. Apparently there are many other caves. This one, however, is spectacular. It is at least 100m deep and quite high throughout. There are many stalagmite and stalactite formations, many of them very tightly knit. In many areas the roof is also dimpled, like a golf ball.
The cave was used by the Vietnamese to hide during the war against the French. You could easily have hundreds of people in this cave. There are inscriptions throughout the cave left by people who had been holed up here.
The cave itself is awesome and the view of the bay from the cave entrance is also quite beautiful.
